"Do you know where your children are?" is a question utilized As a public service announcement (PSA) for parents on American television especially from the advanced 1960s direct the late 1980s. Attended by a time promulgation, this phrase is typically used As a direct introduction for the originating station's late-evening newscast, typically at either 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m.[1] While the idiomatic expression itself had appeared in newspapers equally early as the 19th century, usage of it in broadcast medium started in the past 1960s following the act of nightly juvenility curfews for minor league in multiple large cities.[2]
When proposing a nightly youth curfew in the state in early 1961, Massachusetts say senator William X. Wall notably urged altogether radio and television broadcasters to inquire the question on-air, so as to remind parents to check dormy on their children.[3] The first high-profile custom of the phrase was by KHJ-Idiot box (now KCAL-TV channel 9) in City of the Angels in 1964, which had the head read on-air past booth announcers during the nightly 10:00 p.m. station break.[4] Following the adoption of a 10:30 p.m. curfew in Baltimore, WJZ-TV (carry 13) began running the declaration at 11:00 p.m. in consultation with the urban center's mayor Thomas D'Alesandro III;[5] [note 1] this followed a serial publication of documentaries produced by the base regarding issues facing jr. generations and was inspired by positive receipt of the PSA on Milwaukee video.[6] WJZ-Goggle bo's possessor Westinghouse Broadcasting quickly adopted this phrase for other stations closely-held by the chain, including KYW-TV in Philadelphia and WBZ-TV in Boston.[7] [8]
WNEW-Telly (channel 5) in Greater New York, along with WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York, are two of the more than notable stations to have utilized this promulgation. WNEW-TV began using the phrase spoken by Mel Epstein, WNEW-TV's director of on-air promotions, in 1967 in response to the rising level of crime in the city;[2] it is yet used past the place—known as WNYW since 1986—on a every night basis. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the announcement was adjusted to encourage hoi polloi to stay on home during the general with the set phrase "Stay home. Stay safe. Stay effective. We're all in that unitedly."[9]

Michael Michael Joe Jackson's digest record album Xscape, posthumously discharged in 2014, includes a track titled "Do You Get laid Where Your Children Are", which was originally recorded in 1986 by Jackson during his "Unspeakable" sessions, and was reworked 'tween 2013 and 2014. In it, Jesse Louis Jackson narrates the events of an underage girl who undergoes child sexual abuse and neglect.[10]
